BCRP Intranet

Benefits

BCRP Intranet eliminates the costs and frustrations of distributing photographs of offenders and other sensitive personal data. BCRP Intranet enables Police to transfer data to its partner Crime Reduction Partnerships without the need to print or encapsulate them, or to manually post or deliver them. Likewise it allows CRP Administrators to pass this information on to Members without the need for signatures to confirm delivery and return of the materials. Destruction of time-expired data including photographs on the BCRP Intranet is automated.

BCRP Intranet enables more efficient - and more frequent - reporting of incidents. Most CRPs issue paper-based Incident Reports which must be located, completed by hand and faxed or mailed to the Partnership Administrator or Police. Too often incidents are simply not reported. Where Yellow Card schemes are in place, too often offenders who have already received two Yellow Cards don't suffer exclusion notices. BCRP Intranet allows Members to select any known or excluded offenders currently displayed on the Intranet and submit on-line Incident Reports. A similar process is available for offenders who are not as yet featured on the Intranet. Reporting is simple and quick, and Incident Reports are sent online instantaneously.

BCRP Intranet makes Members participate more. Members cannot be expected to visit the BCRP Intranet from time to time simply to see if anything relevant has been added since their last visit. So BCRP Intranet comes complete with a powerful 'eNewsletter' function. Each week an eNewsletter is distributed to all Members showing a summary of all additions and changes made to the Intranet in the previous seven days. No administration is required for this process which is entirely automated. Each summary includes a click-on link to full details which are available on the Intranet itself. In this way Members are kept up-to-date with latest developments, and usage of the Intranet is increased.

BCRP Intranet makes it easy to manage Membership. Administrators add new Members using a simple registration system. Then, when a Member accesses the Intranet for the first time he/she must complete full contact details to be included in the on-line directory of Members accessible through the BCRP Intranet. Each new Member is required to assert that he/she has read, understood and will comply with Must-Read Documents, typically including Code of Practice, Operating Guidelines, Data Integrity Agreement and Radio Operating Protocols (where relevant) which are available for immediate download. Thus the Administrator ensures that all Members declare themselves compliant with the data integrity and security regime.

The Administrator can monitor each Member's access to the Intranet, and the date and time of each download of every document stored on the Intranet. Easy-to-use tools are available to enable the Administrator to send emails to either the entire Membership or any sub-set of it. This may be useful for urgent notifications or Alerts, reminders of subscription renewals or for reminding sub-sets of the Membership to use the Intranet more frequently.
